In this research program we intend to study models of fluid systems composed of electric charges (Coulomb systems) for which their thermodynamic properties can be determined analytically and accurately using the formalism of statistical physics. It is generally very difficult to obtain exact results for complex systems, particularly Coulomb systems that have long-range interactions. However, by limiting studies to low-dimensional systems, for example one or two dimensions, under certain conditions it is feasible to obtain accurate results. These physical models that have an exact solution play a particularly important role in science as they provide a solid theoretical framework for testing hypotheses and conjectures.
